Climate in Calpe (Costa Blanca)
The Costa Blanca has a Mediterranean climate with the least meteorological contrasts of all of Spain. Rainfall falls relatively little throughout the year and the sun shows itself well every month. There are also some extremes in the temperature domain. Freezing almost never occurs and extreme heat with temperatures of 40 degrees or more is rare in this part of the country.
Mild and dry winters and pleasantly hot and dry summers are caused by a Mediterranean climate in which the Mediterranean Sea has a warming effect on the region in winter. This is reinforced by the presence of mountains and hills behind the Costa Blanca which retain the heat of the sea and block the cold from the inside in winter.
According to the World Health Organization, the Costa Blanca climate is the most pleasant and healthiest in Europe. This climate is very pleasant for people suffering from rheumatism and sciatica. Long summer days, few rain showers and clean air (there is no industry in the region) are the climatic characteristics of this region. Rest, relaxation, exercise therapy, socializing, native food with lots of fish, vegetables and fruits ensure healthy living
